The Lifestlye Blog of "HaM"
I’ve been so busy planning Owen’s first birthday party that I have not have time for any of my DIY projects or cleaning the house for that matter. I spent all weekend making chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered marshmallow sticks, cupcakes, and of course his first smash cake. It was a Dr. Seuss themed birthday. We didn’t go all out like we did for Hunter’s first birthday, but I think we spent a good amount of time trying to make it as special as possible for our last little one. Here are some pictures of Owen’s BIG DAY!!
His first birthday cake that I custom ordered from Ralphs. Super easy and affordable. Inside was marble cake with strawberry filling and it was DELICIOUS!!
Here’s the birthday boy with his cake! SO precious!
We had guests write a message for him so when he gets older, he can know all the love he had surrounding him on his first birthday!
There is an Asian tradition that I believe comes from Korea where a baby plays a game where his “first grab” of a any displayed objects will give us a glimpse into his or her future profession. We decided to do this and added 8 objects for Owen to pick from. The objects are as seen below. Guess which one he picked?
He picked the TAMBOURINE!! (I spelled it wrong above. Excuse this tired mom)
Overall, it was a great day and our little man sure had a blast. Thank you to all our family and friends for such generous gifts. He is one lucky little guy! Special thanks to Auntie Tran who helped make the base for Owen’s smash cake!
