DIY – Ikea Spice Rack to Children’s Bookshelf

This DIY is SUPER easy and cheap! The spice racks are $3.99 each and paint can be bought for less than $2.

Supply List

  • 4 Bekvam spice racks from Ikea
  • Acrylic craft paint (color of your choosing)
  • nails or screws

Steps

  1. Paint all the wooden pieces
  2. Put together spice rack according to IKEA instructions
  3. Measure and put nails/ screws in wall
  4. Install spice rack and add books

Here is my completed project!

Some pros about this project is that it is affordable and customizable for a small space. A con is that is does not hold THAT many books and my son has more books than the shelving can hold. I may have to try another DIY idea that I saw where rain gutters were used as a corner bookshelf.

This looks dead cool! I used one of these Ikea spice racks to make a picture ledge – they’re great.
